Farmhouse Dripping Cake

340g (12oz) Plain Flour
170g (6oz) Dripping
170g (6oz) Light Brown Sugar
150ml (¼ pint) Milk
110g (4oz) Currants
110g (4oz) Sultanas
50g (2oz) Butter or Margarine
1 Egg, beaten
3 tsp Baking Powder
¼ tsp Nutmeg
Pinch Salt

Pre-heat oven to 180°C: 350°F: Gas 4.
Sift the flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt together.
Rub into the butter until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
Add the sugar and sultanas.
Add the milk and egg, mixing thoroughly.
Pour into a a baking tin and level off.
Bake for 1¼-½ hours hours or until golden brown.
