Countdow to Christmas

First Week in December

Order the turkey, goose or other bird and any other meats to be consumed over the festive period.
(Make sure that you have a baking dish large enough to fit the bird!)
Purchase non-perishables such as alcohol, soft drinks, long-life products and condiments
Make the Christmas cake and store in a dry airtight container, adding a liitle brandy or rum from time to time.
Make the Christmas puddings, if not already made.

One Week before

Finish off the Christmas cake by adding the marzipan and decorating with icing.
Buy or make the cranberry sauce or chutney

Four days before

Baking Day!
Make your mincepies and busicuits, store in dry airtight containers.

December 23rd

Buy fresh vegetables, salads and fish and store in the fridge (bread can be frozen and fruit and vegetables stored in an garage or somewhere else) Prepare chestnuts if using fresh.

Christmas Eve

Prepare the vegetables, keep peeled potatoes covered in cold water, trim sprouts, carrots and parsnips and store in fridge.
Wrap the chipolatas in bacon and refridgerate
Prepare stuffings. Don’t refrigerate, but leave covered in a cool place. The stuffings should not be too cold when you stuff the turkey.
