Classic Burger
450g (1lb) Lean Minced Beef
50g (2oz) Fine Breadcrumbs
1 Egg
Salt
Pepper
Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl.
Shape into four equal patties.
Heat a little oil in a frying pan, cook until they are they way you prefer, turning once.
Alternatively you can place under a hot grill or cook on a barbecue.
Serve on lightly toasted burger buns.
Note: This is the most basic recipe for a burger, the better the quality of the beef - the better the burger, you can add anything you like to adjust it to your taste. Add a few drops of Worcestershire or Tabasco sauce, mustard, ketchup, etc. Or add a couple of ounces of finely chopped onion, garlic, chili, any herbs you enjoy. Just customise it to make it into your ideal burger. You can then add cheese, fresh tomatoes, salad leaves, onion slices, crisply fried bacon, or any addition you please.
